Astrology Articles by Martin Schulman
What is Karma? (continued) © 2006
"The mystique of reincarnation
has been for centuries a subject of fascination in the curious mind. From almost the beginning
of time man has entertained the possibility that life is one continuous thread, with the process
of birth and death only phases moving from one stage of existence into another."
Martin Schulman
"All life is change and all
change is life, but life eternal is what the ancient masters promised and within this realm of
eternal life everything changes yet nothing changes."
Martin Schulman
If this is so, then
it explains so many questions that we ask about ourselves. It particularly explains
how much of life could be the result of past incarnations, with the soul memories of what
we have experienced being carried into the current life.
- How could a child be an artistic genius with not enough time yet to acquire such skills?
- How could someone speak in a language they apparently have never learned?
- How could a little Indian girl show the way to a buried box in a house she never lived in?
- How come some things work so easy for you while others seem impossible to achieve?
Karma is the accumulated result
of past actions in past lives and in the current life. It is being resolved and created anew every
minute by everything you think and do. What you have worked on in previous incarnations and achieved
to some degree of success gives you good karma in the current life,- something to build on and go forward
to improve further.
At the same time, there is bad karma also. People who have been cruel or unfair to
others, or were in some way unappreciative of all that was given them, have made very difficult karma for
themselves, as in this life they will have to make up for the bad "soul record" they have created.
God smiles on people with good karma,
and so it is something we want to earn. The golden rule is the way to improve one's karma, particularly in
trying not to hurt another person, regardless of provocation. Although this is difficult, it is the way to
achieve spiritual evolution helping your soul to cleanse itself of elemental karma.
