The Incredible Moon-Sun
Relationship [Part 1 of 2]
Although the Sun is often given much more credit than the Moon insofar as how much it
influences an individual's life, there are many hidden factors that suggest quite the
opposite may in fact be true.
To begin with, life starts at birth under the rulership of the Moon. During the
earliest of years a newborn is almost completely dependent upon its mother (also
ruled by the Moon). The environment of the young infant (further ruled by the Moon)
is often a protective sheltering source of security so that the harsh brightness of
the Sun is not felt at too early an age.
As the infant grows into childhood it learns to emulate its parents and its
surroundings. Here again, we see the influence of the Moon as this luminary has
no real light of its own but instead reflects the light of the Sun. In much the
same way the child having not really developed its own light yet, is a reflection of
their parents on many levels.
As the child grows up, it grows accustomed to its parental home (ruled by the Moon)
and develops habits (also ruled by the Moon) to help it better socialize with its
immediate environment that it must depend on (dependency is also moon-ruled).
It must please its parents, teachers and eventually friends and peers.
As the child becomes a teenager, it seeks cult-like attachments (ruled by the Moon)
as it tries to recreate family structure in its own developing sphere. The sense of
belonging has so much pressure in it, that the individual will wear almost any style
of clothing, take on any expressions of language, and indulge in almost any behavior
in order to fit whatever environment is being offered to them as an eventual
substitute for their parents and family. Here again, we see the influence of the Moon,
as the need for security overrides most sound judgment during these early attempts at
finding a sense of self amidst peers.
The funny thing is, that the individual is merely trying to fit what already is,
almost as if transferring their consciousness from one womb to another. Thus, they
create an extended family structure (again ruled by the Moon) where their friends and
teachers, become the role-model reactions to all they have experienced in their
original family. Emotions (under the rulership of the Moon) run very high during
these years, where relatively minor occurrences seem to carry with them, the
importance of lving or dying with each new fad, craze, or momentary interest.
During the late teens and early twenties, when society says that a child has reached
the age of majority, the individual looks to the past set up before them to find out
how to act. They recreate memories of habits of what seems right for their age. Some
experiment with alcohol, drugs, sex. Some try to search for themselves in other ways
through creativity, music, sports, hobbies, clubs.
Whether the expression is positive or negative, it is always an attempt to find one's
space in a type of re-rooting process, where the individual is feeling transplanted
from the security of their childhood into a world in which they are not sure there is
space for them. There is a sense of not being ready yet, for all the responsibility
that looms ahead. Nowhere is this more evident than in the fear of premature unwanted
motherhood experienced by both sexes (also under the rulership of the Moon).
