Astrologer's View: September 11th. SOLAR ECCLIPSE
by Martin Schulman
On September 11, 2007 a partial Solar Eclipse will be visible from
South America and parts of Antartica, during which time the Moon will cover
3/4 of the Sun's diameter at maximum Eclipse, 12:31 Universal
Time. The entire event will last from 10:25 to 14:36 Universal Time
(approximately 4 hrs).
This is a South Node eclipse which has much to do with Karma that
was started in the past. In this instance, both the Sun and Moon will
be at 18 degrees 24 minutes of Virgo (Capricorn - Saturn-ruled decanate
of the Sign) and forming an opposition to 18 degrees 24 minutes of Pisces
(Cancer-ruled decanate of the Sign).
If we think of the things that Virgo rules, we are brought to understand
the Karmic lessons that bring us to a more humane outlook on life. Virgo
rules order, idealism, service, and how important it is for us
not to neglect the mundane necessities of our earthly existence.
Virgo rules the natural sixth house of health, work and service- having a
dramatic effect on the preconditions we set for getting along with others.
It is the last of the lower hemisphere houses which symbolizes the completion
of the lower self in its seeking perfection in the mundane reality it
perceives before the upper hemisphere of the horoscope can experience a
higher consciousness.
With an Eclipse occuring on such a coincidental day as 9/11, it makes
us wonder about the significance of this event. Is there something
more going on here than meets the eye?
Since this Eclipse occurs in a Mutable Sign,- a change in consciousness
is about to occur. Although we may get glimpses of it quickly, such
changes are a product of time and evolve over many months. Yet, it is
more than likely that a difference in world-wide seed thinking is
in the offing.
I have always believed that in the long run, it is not the things that
happen in the world that matter nearly as much as our perception of them and
how our consciousness learns, grows and evolves because of them.
With this in mind, we should be tuned to any clues we can get as to how world
Karma is going to change from this 'coincidental'? 9/11 Eclipse.
Important also, particularly on a personal level, is the house in your own chart
that 18 degrees of Virgo falls in, along with any planets, midpoints, Nodes,
Part of Fortune, Part of IC, or Chart Angles (Ascendant, Descendant, Midheaven,
Nadir) near or aspecting this degree.
Here you will find a lesson of particular interest is being brought to your
attention with a slight hint of parental (and by extension 'guiding') figures
or principles in your life. Remember, Virgo is Mercury-ruled and its 18th degree
is under the influence of the Capricorn decanate which is Saturn-ruled).
Love and Light,

Eclipse Legend: Death by Superstition -
The earliest record of a solar eclipse is from ancient China on October 22, 2134 B.C.
At this time, there were two royal astronomers, Hsi and Ho, who had
neglected their duties by failing to predict the event.
Since such an event was believed to occur because an invisible dragon had come to
devour the Sun, the Chinese would create noise and commotion with drum sounds to
scare it off. They even had archers shoot arrows into the sky to further frighten
away the dragon that was taking their daylight.
When this particular eclipse took place, the Emperor became so enraged at not being forewarned,
that although the Sun eventually returned, he angrily ordered the astronomers beheaded!
Eclipse Humor: Avoiding Death
An astronomer goes on an expedition to Darkest Africa to see a total eclipse of the Sun, when he
gets captured by cannibals. Knowing the eclipse is due the next day at noon, he comes up with a
plan to gain his freedom by posing as a god and threatening to extinguish the Sun if he's not
released, but his timing has to be just right. So, in the few words of the cannibals' primitive
tongue that he knows, he asks his guard what time they plan to kill him.
The guard answers, "Tradition has it that captives are to be killed when the Sun reaches the highest
point in the sky on the day after they are captured so that they may be cooked and served for the
evening meal."
"Great," the astronomer replies.
The guard continues, "But because everyone's so excited about it, in your case we're going to wait
until after the eclipse."
