ASTROLOGER VIEW: A Spiritual Look at Karma

      Since our life experiences are governed by the laws of karma, we are often surprised at how we can be so advanced in some parts of our being and so backward and lacking in others. How could there be such a disparity existing within the same individual?

How could someone who is kind to little leaguers be cruel to women? How could someone who has all their needs taken care of, turn a blind eye to those who suffer? How could someone who is basically truthful, tell lies?

We see these inconsistencies in people all the time. Shockingly, we find unexplainable dichotomies within ourselves as well. How could someone have a college degree and not know how to spell? How could we ourselves be skilled and clumsy at the same time?

These anomolies occur when we create imbalances in ourselves by stretching beyond our karmic needs in an egoic race for the brass ring of life. Our karma puts limits on what we can do and what we cannot do. When we reach beyond our karma, we move out of our safe zone, and find ourselves in unfamiliar and often misguided areas of life that offer little meaning in the end.

Staying within our karma does not deprive ourselves of a rich life experience. Quite the contrary, it focuses us in accomplishing our tasks in the order in which we are ready for them.

If we realize that we are the culmination of different past lives before this one, we may have reached great understanding in some lives in specific areas of experience, while sadly we may have also regressed backward in others, whose lessons we are now repeating in order to learn them better. Perhaps we are ready to learn now, what we could not then.

Your lower degree planets are more primitive than those at higher degrees. These planets along with those that are receiving difficult aspects, or are in difficult sign or house positions (i.e. fall or detriment) are where your greatest lessons will be in this life.

At the same time, the lessons you have learned well in past lives show up in your chart now in the form of ruling planets (which are karmically earned), benefic aspects (conjunctions, trines, sextiles) and high degree planets (indicating evolvement within the sign they appear in).

All your planets must work with your Moon's Nodes so that the planetary energies are focused to your highest area of achievement instead of being idly scattered in past life meaning with little current focus. In this way, your temptations, difficulties, tests and challenges all stay within your Karma and all work towards the goal of bringing your Karma to an enriched evolvement, which will ultimately fill your life with worthwhile meaning.

Staying within your karma means not trying to be what you are not. If you have high degree planets, then you must rise above lower levels of karma, and well you can because you have earned that right from past life experiences. You must forego the lesser experiences of primtive learning and deal with the more evolved challenges that are more demanding of your efforts but also more rewarding to your soul.

Your low degree planets should not be looked down on. While these cannot easily respond to evolved challenges, they cannot be ignored, for the represent a part of you that you need in the current life. There are too many people in spiritual daydreams, while ignoring the baser needs that they are running from. Thus, they ignore their bodies, their sex lives, their mundane tasks, and the earthly maintenance that living on this planet demands on a regular basis. Yet, it is attention to all these lower needs that will gradually evolve them in orderly fashion to better and more easily acceptible levels.

It is important to not run from yourself, or the lessons you are running from will never be learned. They will appear life after life with little progress, until at some point you will be forced to deal with their impending needs.

For the most part, the key seems to be acceptance of one's karmic place in life. More than anything else, this seems to do the trick for almost everyone. It rids the mind of distractions, extraneous temptations that are off the course of one's Karmic destiny, and makes one pay attention to matters of importance.

If you think of Karma as the seatbelt of life, holding you in the right place, reminding you to do what is safe in life and not regretably sorry afterwards, then you will slowly come to welcome karma instead of denying it.

A smile begets a smile. A good deed begets love in return. As you slowly begin to understand the nature of karma, you begin to realize that it is not always expressed in a linear one to one fashion. In other words, people you help may not yet be capable of paying you back. They will reincarnate owing you karmic debts until they can. But, in the meantime, the more you do for others, the more greater souls than yourself will be karmically reaching out to you to help you in your own challenges, tests and needs.

In a way, it is not personal. Yet, in a way, we are all one person. One soul. One with God. When we begin to realize this, we will come to love what Karma does for the world we live in and our place within it.

NEW MOON
June 3, 2008

The New Moon on June 3 occurring 03:22 p.m. E.S.T. at 14' Gemin finds both the Sun and Moon in Gemini, a rather interesting perspective, since New Moons always symbolize the oneness of birth. Yet, this time, it occurs in the dualistic Sign Gemini.

The focus will be on communication from both a personal and reincarnation standpoint of view. Remember the Gemini twins Caspor and Pollux represent mortality and immortality. One twin lives life knowing it will eventually die. The other will never die, and consequently has a totally different outlook on things.

It is this kind of beignning we are experiencing on June 3 with this New Moon. There will be a consciousness of shortsightedness (the mortal twin) and what is good in the long run (the immortal twin). When these two eventually work together, the result is nothing short of remarkable, because much of the problems of the world are the result of short sighted thinking that has not been able to look beyond the needs of the moment.

Thus, we can expect this New Moon to bring new awareness in communication, and ideas. Since the twins of Gemini are always comparing things, we can expect very distinct comparisons to be made in the US Political campaigns between shortsighted and longsighted plans. Yet, remember, Gemini is a mental air sign, giving birth to slogans, promises, cute expressions, rhetoric, even the striving to find words of immortality. In fact, words have a great influence on the minds of us mortal human beings.

Yet, as we hear these words, we must remember it is our minds and hearts that are the fertile planting grounds where these oratorical gems must be fertilized. And, it is us who must pay for the fertilizer.
