ASTROLOGER VIEW: Astrology and World Markets

     As Governments struggle to implement protection for markets and banks, it is important to note that Pluto has Retrograded back into Sagittarius, where it again prompts uncontrollable extremes, with an immediacy that rivals the going to war in Iraq (which also occurred under this same transit).

     There is always Karmic consequences in every transit, especially the long ones that span generations, for these have a far-reaching influence on the causes and effects of earth life. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Remembering this helps us to understand the meaning of a transit, impartially, objectively and ultimately with the truth and wisdom we seek.

     Pluto, though a small Planet, often brings large explosive-like events. Sagittarius is a Fire Sign that rules the law, legislation and among other things, far-reaching attitudes in foreign lands.

     The combination of this Planet in sign tends to extreme the hopes (Sagittarius) of millions (Pluto rules the masses), as it explodes and shatters any semblance of stability, until Pluto's power for change can bring to the surface that which has to be eliminated.

     There is a saying in the "I Ching",- The Vessel must be overturned. This refers to situations so out of control that they cannot be mended in any other way but to empty them completely before they can be refilled with new and meaningful substance.

     In this kind of process, we begin to realize the slow laborious reformative nature of Pluto's mysterious power. For as this transit takes place, there is always minor currents within it,- events within events, all part of the larger Plutonian picture that is ultimately to bring reform.

     While Pluto has not yet finished retrograding in Sagittarius, the Uranus-Moon conjunction on October 12th. presaged an uncontrollable instant emotional reaction that sent the Dow up 936 points. It is almost as if the freeing power of Uranus was signaling a release of held in emotional negativity, and as often is the case with Uranus, it happens quickly and unpredictably.

     Yet, if we look a little deeper in all of this, we get a better understanding of a much larger picture from a Karmic point of view.

     When Pluto finishes its work in Sagittarius, and re-enters Capricorn on November 28, 2008, we will see how the father-like qualities of this sign (which rules governments in their most protective roles) dig deep into themselves (Pluto) to find new and innovative ways to protect systems of barter and business from excessive anomalies, by demanding (Pluto) responsibility (Saturn-ruled Capricorn) so that the excesses that caused so much suffering, never happen again.

     So complete is Pluto's power to reform that eventually this will bring about a permanent seed shift change in how world business is conducted, on both personal and multi-national levels.

     It is karmically correct for any government to protect its people, just as a father (Capricorn) protects his children from danger they cannot see themselves (Pluto). If the people choose to drive automobiles, it is correct for the government to demand seat belts as a necessity. If people choose to engage in business, it is important for governments to make business practices fair. If the people choose to invest in world markets, it is correct for governments to make these markets equally as safe.

     This will take time, because it is a new concept, but in the end, it is no less than what we would expect from an evolving consciousness that constantly seeks innovative ways to deal with problems. Although it may seem that government intervention on a mass scale is reminiscent of Socialism controlling Capitalism, the Plutonian nature of all of this, hints that something much greater is going on.

     In fact, at the outset of this new Aquarian age, we may well be on the threshold of an entirely new World Economy, emerging as the outgrowth of how governments are beginning to open their hearts and minds to how much the children of the world need parental father-like figures (Capricorn) to protect and guide them.

NEW MOON :
October 28, 2008

     On October 28th. between the auspices of two fixed stars, the Sun and Moon will form a New Moon conjunction in early Scorpio (at 4' 56" of the Sign). This time of new beginnings (occurring in the Sign that rules endings, reincarnation and transformations) has significant meaning on both personal and historical levels.

Because Scorpio is such a secretive, emotional and visionary Sign, this time demands inner reflection to carefully study one's emotions and motives, with an eye towards fresh beginnings and deep insightful changes.

This New Moon occurs just between the Fixed Stars Princeps at 3' 09" and Khambalia at 6' 57" both in Scorpio. These are very fortunate stars for research, studiousness, business, government, law, science, arts, police investigation, espionage and esoteric subjects.

While Princeps is of the nature of Mercury and Saturn (careful contemplative thought), Khambalia is best described by Mercury and Mars (thoughtful action).

What is important here, is that our decisions made during this New Moon will have a finality to them, since Scorpio is a fixed Sign of endings to be followed by new beginnings.

It is also an extremely decisive Sign, often signifying clear deep convictions of choice. At the same time, the New Moon itself is subjective, no matter how impersonally objective we might consider ourselves to be.

As a result. this is a time when we each in our most alone and private ways may well formulate personal opinions about life, based on deep, yet newly-discovered beliefs that will not only affect how we subconsciously think about ourselves in the coming cycle, but may well affect the culture we live in.

Since this New Moon occurs in Scorpio, the Sign of transformations, this is definitely a time of deep purposeful change, particularly as we look towards the election of a New Administration in the United States.

Thus, because we will be feeling the influence of fixed stars, first of the nature of Mercury and Saturn and then of Mercury and Mars, we must at the outset think with practical purpose (Saturn) and then apply our thoughts with actions (Mars) in order to actuate our inner realizations.

May we draw deep personal insight from this Scorpio New Moon and all be wise enough in this November election to use and honor our right to vote with the responsibility it deserves.
