Astrological Duads give us a closer look at Planetary transits. Duads are 2 1/2 degree segments of each sign, starting with the sign itself and followed by each next sign in succession. Thus, the first 2 1/2 degrees of Capricorn would be the Capricorn duad, followed by the next 2 1/2 degrees,- the Aquarius duad.

NEW MOON: March 26, 2009 16:06 UT 06'09" Aries


On March 26th. just after the spring equinox, we will have a New Moon in Aries (the first new Moon of the Astrological year). With both the Sun and Moon in Aries, this is a time of new beginnings, fresh starts, embarking on new activities to face new challenges.

Aries always symbolizes the planting of seeds in the early spring, as we must act to begin a new cycle. At 6 degrees of the sign, this emphasizes the Aries decanate and Gemini duad of Aries. Thus, this new moon is ruled by Mars (Aries sign), Mars (Aries decanate) and Mercury (Gemini duad). We must put our best thoughts (Gemini) forward (Mars) if we are to create an inspiring future.

New Moons always carry a bit of subjectivity within them, and in this instance, we must be sure our actions are quick and thoughtful, but not impulsive. Tendencies to jump to hasty conclusions should be prudently curtailed, however, actions based on full and proper information (the Mercury effect from the Gemini duad) will bring much better results.

Impatience is always a problem with Aries, and during the New Moon, it is doubly so. If we use the Gemini ability to compare differences between ideas, we will know how and where to sow our seeds.

Aries often impels singular action. Yet the duad effect of Gemini here, compels listening to the perspectives and opinions of others. This can enhance our knowledge, giving us a more objective and multi-faceted reflection of ourselves.

The new beginnings of Aries burn through the worn cycle of past weakness, with fresh vibrant energy, eager to start new projects with a new outlook. This is a time to leave grudges in the past and look forward without time for blame or bemoaning or guilt, but rather to use our strengths to find better new outlets for our energies by going forward.

Aries is not a sign of continuation. It is the cardinality of new beginning, without footsteps ahead of it. This takes boldness and some courage, but the double masculine strength of Mars (Sign and Decanate) of this new moon offers both.
