ASTROLOGER VIEW: Unlock Your Chart Potential

If studies estimate that most humans only use a small percentage of their brain most of the time, then it begs the question, how little of our potential do most of us reach?

When it comes to Astrology we may in fact be using even less of all our chart potential. How often do we see an expected transit occur, and yet nothing of significance seems to happen from it?

The reasons in these instances are often locked under a karmic ceiling that only allows us to experience what we are ready for. For example, a new basketball is invented with more true bounce. Yet only one who has karmically gained enough experience in playing basketball, can actually benefit from it. The same is true of musical instruments. With refinements in tonality and playability, the accomplished musician has much more choices available than years ago. Yet, here too, one must have karmically achieved competence for it to make a difference.

In much more simplistic, yet widely experienced ways, our day to day choices that we make are also influenced by our karmic levels. For example, an individual who has put in a great deal of time and effort to gain knowledege, has a much higher and broader karmic ceiling when it comes to making intelligent decisions in life. His or her actions are more likely to result in the wisdom to make even better choices as time goes by.

If you think about it, much of what our lives become has to do with the choices we make, for each decision invariably leads to a different set of future choices. Thus, with every choice we make, we are creating our karmic limitations or karmic evolvement in the future.

How many times have we passed over a piece of furniture that needs dusting, and made the choice to ignore it? What kind of karma does this create? It makes our consciousness guilty, in denial of our needs to live in a better space, and generally causes in the very least, subconscius feelings of unhappiness, whether or not we choose to recognize them.

In this same way, we have planets, houses, signs and aspects within our chart, waiting to reveal their karmic potential, if we pay attention to them.

As you know, each planet means many different things on a myriad of levels. How many of these meanings are being fulfilled in our lives, and how many simply do not apply because we have made the choices to not engage their possibilities?

Many people carry a subconscious fear of one parent. Since the father is ruled by the Sun and the mother ruled by the Moon, these individuals are not realizing the true potential of their Sun or Moon until they face this fear. Futhermore, the Part of Fortune (which is made up of the Sun, Moon and Ascendant), cannot work to its optimum, until these three chart components are harmonized together.

While nobody has done a scientific study on this yet, it may well be that most humans could be using less than 10% of their chart capability, which could easily come from making over 90% of the incorrect or less optimal decisions with life on an every day basis.

How much of your life potential is being neglected? Consider this example.

"What did you do yesterday?"
"I washed the car."
"Good. You used your Neptune, now what about your other nine planets?"

The difference between individuals who are exemplary successful and those who are passively resistant to evolvement and change has much to do with the karmic choices they make and the questions they ask.

Since past experience is all we have to gauge things by, it should be easy to realize why our decisions today are creating the past of tomorrow. Thus, how we confront life each day in every way, will cause our karmic futures, filling it with either limitations and sorrowful regrets or the richly rewarding evolvement and growth we can earn.

To unlock the true potential in our charts, we must not run from our fears, cutting ourselves off from the life experiences we actually want and pushing them away from us. Instead we must confront our fears, our demons, and our bad attitudes. We must stare them in the face, with the full Sun of life, and marshall our forces to overcome anything that plagues our existence.

We must not leave failures in our past, for our past recreates itself in our future, causing us to make more failure decisions because we have not karmically learned any better. Of course fears make us retreat, but for most of us, these retreats become a permanent way of life. As each year passes, we become accepting of less for ourselves, and enjoying a smaller share of all our planetary energies, signs, houses and aspects until our life has shriveled into a sense of defeatism that practically overwhelms us in all we do.

Thus, the past never ends, if we have not completed it satisfactorily. In this sense, it is how we deal with closure, ruled by Pluto that makes all the difference.

Pluto represents a chapter in our life closing, never again to be reopened. This planet comes into play when we graduate, leave home, change jobs, experience divorce, leave the military, or experience the loss of a loved one. In all of these instances, a door is being closed. Yet, too many people find this a convenient subconscious hiding place to throw fears they would rather never deal with again. Thus, they bury these fears in memories of unpleasant past experiences that they feel they will not have to access much in the future, without ever thinking that they are accepting weakness into their very fibre.

These subconscious fears spill over into future experiences, getting set off again and again by anything that symbolically reminds (brings back to mind) the original unpleasant experiences. Since the experiences themselves have been closed for good, the subconscious has no choice but to find symbolic likeness in new experiences so that it can continue the same reactive patterns that keep stymieing the individual, denying most possibilities for future growth and happiness.

Thus, it is important to realize that even though fears make us retreat, we must resolve to not let these retreats be permanent, or they will become a karmic trench of denial that will be our only existence in the future.

If you are in your second Saturn Cycle (approximately age 28-56), or third Saturn Cycle (approximately age 56-78), think of anything that is difficult for you to do, and you may well realize it is because of karmic lessons you were too afraid to deal with in the preceeding Saturn Cycle. Thus, an individual in their thirties might well suffer the same insecurities of their youth if they did not confront these fears during their adolescent and teenage years.

In the case of Saturn, the planet which times our lives, it is easier to deal with fears when we are a remote distance in time from their origin. Yet, the tendency is to try to ignore them, feeling that they might not be pertinent to our lives now, without realizing how they are still weakening us on the inside.

The more you can face your fears, regardless of how much it scares you to do this, the better you will be able to realize the true potential in your own chart. Remember that fears are crippling. They deny you of light and make it impossible for you to believe in yourself. Little by little they cut you off from all the wonderful things in life, making you feel these things cannot be for you.

Karma is never intended to make you a prisoner, but instead, by facing your fears, it can enable you to overcome your karmic limitations and open yourself to all the possibilities you have been denying. With each fear you face, you will be creating new karma with future potential in it to conquer life's obstacles and turn them into stepping stones. This is the path to a successful life.
