ASTROLOGER VIEW: Spiritual Astrology

For centuries Astrologers have gazed at the movement of the heavens and found correlations between planetary positions and earthly behavior and events. From the earliest crude observations up to the present time, we have found that slowly through the eons, we have come to refine our view of the universe as well as our place in it.

In the earliest of times, man was thought to be totally controlled by forces beyond his own ability to discipline his life. If the moon were full, he would undoubtedly fall victim to the vapors, or exhibit his hidden vampire nature.

Time and again, history has brought with it the fears of chaos or world-end due to some catastrophic event caused by a heavenly cataclysmic aspect or planetary transit. Yet, each time the world did not come to an end and these extreme doomsayers receded, if only temporarily, into the background of humanity's fiber.

Slowly, over generations of evolution, as Astrology began its emergence from the dark ages, mankind has begun to understand that the heavens are not bringing the doom and gloom that man himself was generating in his own collective subconscious.

Gradually, the principles of Astrological thought slowly began to experience change. It is imortant that we understand this process of change by looking at what causes it, for it is too easy to believe that current and future spiritual thoughts, that have somehow found their way into Astrological thinking, are without foundation.

When you look at your chart, and find one of your planets in its fall, or poorly-placed by house, sign or harsh aspects it is receiving, you have the choice of accepting it, which can only lead you to an attitude of "kill me now," or realizing that this is a karmic placement, caused by past actions you have created. If the difficulty is faced properly now, it can be just the challenge you need to give you opportunities to overcome your weaknesses and build anew.

Spiritual Astrology is built on the realization that every aspect, placement, and part of a horoscope, holds within it the very quintessence of opportunity to evolve from the past (including past lives) replacing it with a new ability to see life from a different and more productive point of view. One should never view occurences as "What the world or God is doing to me," but rather as the outgrowth of past causes, offering new choices.

The more we can look at ourselves honestly, even if we are afraid of realizing how horrible we might be in the eyes of others, or the eyes of "God," the closer we will be towards realizing our spiritual potential. There is not a living being on this planet, who is living a spiritual life, that has not stared at their demons and wrestled with them in "hell" itself, before realizing that all suffering comes from turning away from our true and honest destiny.

At the dawn of this Century, marking the early years of this Aquarian Age, the entire realm of Spiritual Astrology is but in its infancy. Every event holds within it the possibility for truth. We do not always see this right away. Sometimes, difficult occurrences in our lives may take us weeks, months or years to reach cosmic truth in our consciousness. Yet only when we do, can we put down these difficulties, release our disharmonious untruths and uncentered attitudes about them, along with our reactive emotions and thoughts that have confused us, so that we can grow and evolve to a better view of life, and recognize our potential for fullfillment. It is always there. It is just up to us to see it.

As the Sun reaches its furthest point from the equator, we experience the longest day of sunlight in the northern hemisphere as we enter the first day of Summer. The opposite occurs in the southern hemisphere, where this shortest day of least sunlight marks the first day of winter.

Astrologically, this Summer Solstice occurs as the Sun moves from Gemini to Cancer. This completes the last decanate of Gemini, the Aquarius part of the Sign, as its rulership over thought and universal ideas now recede into the background, giving way to the first Decanate of Cancer, ruled by the Moon, which now brings our attention to the most personal experiences in life,- the beginnings of all life in Birth.
